Stunning large Nippon (Japanese) handpainted porcelain vase measuring approx 13-1/4" tall (top of handles) and 7.5" wide produced between 1911-1921. It features a softly hand-painted camel desert scene with mountains in the background, painted gold trim, and lightly raised gold moriage designs. It has two gold-painted rectangular handles. The base has a green "M in wreath" stamp that reads "Hand Painted / M / Nippon".

Note - This mark would have been used from 1911 until 1921, after which exports were required to be marked "Japan" instead.

Condition - very good condition with no chips or cracks. Some wear is noted on the gold trim of the handles (see pic # 8). Other hand-painted aspects are in excellent condition, with the exception of dark marks due to rubbing in several places on the image (pics # 5, 6 and 7).
