This wonderful sterling silver trinket/jewelry box is shaped like a dresser, measuring approx 4-1/8" wide by 3-3/4" tall (to top rail) b 2" deep. The lid is engraved "Empire Day / May 24, 1914" the celebration day for Queen Victoria's birthday. It opens to reveal three small velvet-lined compartments for holding small jewelry items like a ring or pendant. The underside looks to be lined with black leather. The piece as a whole weighs approx 164g (5.85oz).
Hallmarks - the inside lid is stamped with lion passant and letter O (hallmarks for "England" and "1913"). The base is additionally stamped with an unknown (to me) makers mark, anchor, lion passant, and the letter O - indicating Birmingham assay office, England, 1913. It is additionally marked with the British pattern registration code "Rd 605997".
Condition - good condition, with moderate tarnishing and light wear. The lining appears to be in good condition.
