This lovely early 20th century "goofus glass" candy/trinket dish measures approx 7" wide x 2" high. Goofus glass is an American term for early 20th century pressed glass decorated with unfired enamel paint. It was produced by several prominent glass factories of the time, and was often given away at carnivals or as promotions. A lot of the paint didn't survive as it could easily wear or wash off. This piece features an ornate raised grape and leaves pattern on the underside which was painted predominantly gold with cranberry red highlights. This reverse painting technique allows the dish to be used without wearing off the paint.
Condition - the glass is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The paint is also very good, showing minor wear but better than typical. There are several spots within the bowl where the glass feels slightly textured than smooth (detectable by feel only).
